My vision for this podcast is to inspire you to discover, grow and make your creative passions a successful and impactful reality.
Welcome to Episode 3, this week I had a lovely conversation with author Jenica Leah. Jenica Leah is now an industry expert speaker for sickle cell.
Jenica has won multiple awards for her children’s book series My Friend Jen and Sickle Cell health and lifestyle blog ‘Me, Myself and Sickle Cell’. Jenica is a youth mentor and publishing coach at JLG Publishing which aims to inspire new writers to bring their stories to print.
She works with first-time authors taking them through the publishing process and also offers publishing packages for those wanting a less hands-on approach. Jenica’s story speaks a lot on her resilience, her drive to create for impact. Must say I was drawn to cheerful personality and her zeal to live a happy and fulfilled life.
In this episode, we discuss Jenica’s journey from the fashion industry to being self-employed. Her vision to reach young individuals and support aspiring authors. Jenica speaks on the need to raise awareness and demystify misconceptions surrounding Sickle Cell. Jenica also offers some great advice for business owners and creatives.
Thank you for listening to the Creatives in Focus podcast!

MY FRIEND JEN 2 BOOK LAUNCH
My Friend Jen 2 will be released soon. socials and look out for updates and city signings leading up to Christmas and new year.
My Friend Jen is the series of children’s books written by Jenica Leah with the aim to promote sickle cell awareness and to give young children with sickle cell the peace of mind she didn’t have. It is a great tool for creating a better understanding of the blood disorder. The first book in the series, entitled: ‘A Little Different’ explains the basics of sickle cell and how to stay well with the condition in such a fun and informative way that even adults can learn from it too. The message within this book is to help children with sickle cell to realise that there is nothing they cannot do, as long as they manage their condition properly.
